Yes. It’s true. Video marketing is easier and cheaper than you think. For starters, you don’t need to buy expensive cameras, microphones, and tripods. There’s also no need for a complex studio setup. In fact, you don’t even need to splash out on professional editing software. In reality, the likelihood is, you already have everything you need to get started with effective video marketing.

Over the course of May 2019 we, as a digital marketing agency, set ourselves a challenge to prove exactly how easy video marketing is. In particular, we wanted to demonstrate how effective streaming live video across social media can be. So, with that in mind, we decided to embark on 30 Days Of Live Streaming.

Going live across social media every day for 30 days turned out to be easier than it sounds. Apart from some forward-planning and a little bit of organisation (figuring out who was going to talk about which topic on which channel), live streaming was fairly straight forward. Most importantly, we didn’t spend a single penny on acquiring any special kit to help us with this video marketing experiment. Indeed, we only used items already at our disposal.

Of course, many will be quick to point out that as a digital marketing agency, we are already likely to be better equipped for video marketing than the average business. However, what you read next may surprise you.

The Secret to Cost-Effective Video Marketing

Creating high-quality, inexpensive video content is now easier than ever before. During our 30-day video marketing experiment, we only used our phones and laptops to record and live stream our daily videos.

That’s it. Nothing else to it.

In other words, all the tools you need for effective videos are likely already in the palm of your hand. Or sitting in your lap.

If you want to get a little bit fancy with video editing, of course, you could purchase professional editing software like Final Cut or Adobe Premiere Pro. However, you can just as easily find free video editing software that’ll do a good enough job. The point is, you don’t need polished, edited videos to kickstart your video marketing. In fact, we’ve compiled a handy list of social media video ideas to help get you started, without the need for editing. We’ve even created a guide on how to go live on Facebook so you can start publishing straight away.

So, all that’s really left to do is grab your phone or laptop and get filming.

Don’t want to be on camera? We have a list of social media video resources for you, including stock footage, to get started.
