Finding my style

Finding my style

Over the last few weeks, I have been working on building my style as a photographer & videographer. With my photography, I have realised I am good at taking pictures with models but not so good at taking pictures of objects. When I took pictures for one of the Social INK client named 'My Special Occasion'.

Feeling refreshed & ready to work

On the week of the 8th I had taken a week off for my birthday, it was really nice to have taken some time out to be with family and friends. I had a nice BBQ on the Saturday to celebrate my 22nd. The following week I came back to work and had to work on my functional skills for Tech City Stars.

Last week I received my new camera. I had not felt this way towards buying something in a while; it reminded me of the feeling a child has whilst celebrating Christmas. That feeling was pure excitement. It had arrived a day before a photoshoot I was invited to by our new client 'My Special Occasion' which added to my happiness even more.

Wedding By Tama-ra

Yesterday I was given the chance to go to Social INK’s new client, Tama-ra Event Designers’ clients wedding preparation. I went down to the hall to do some photography/videography. It was so amazing to see how they transformed the room. They put so much passion in to their work. They made sure the clients received the best.

I am proud to announce I have officially purchased my own DSLR. For some time now I have been in two minds about actually getting down to buying my own camera, I have been using my brothers 700D in the past but now I am currently waiting for the delivery of my Canon 70D. Since last month I keep checking for deals online and kept getting tempted at buying others I have seen in the past.

I have now officially started to use Adobe InDesign, I thought it would be quite hard to use but it is very similar to Photoshop. Chis explained to me that InDesign is good for designing Brochures and Magazines so I should definitely start practising on it. On Friday I was playing around with it, just getting a little feel for the software. Then today I have been redesigning the latest Brochure I designed on Photoshop.

3 Months into my Apprenticeship

3 Months into my Apprenticeship

Officially three months into my apprenticeship. How exciting it has been so far. I have put together this short video showcasing my work over the last few months. It was quite cool to be able to look back at everything and put it all into one video. I had help from my teacher Ken, he helped me by recording a few clips of me working.

Yesterday I had my evening class and decided to ask my fellow classmates for feedback on a brochure I have been trying to design for a week or so. I designed two other versions already but Chris asked to make it stick out more, the first two designs were really boring I must say but I have realised when I design I always aim to just fit everything in and be happy, or I think because I did this last time it will work this time.

The video is finally here. It was really fun to be given the chance to film at the Dragon’s Den event as it is how I got my apprenticeship three months ago. I must say, editing this video was not easy, it has been the most difficult piece I have done so far. This is the first time I have done a voice over, with pictures and video clips with sound so it was quite challenging to fit it all in.

On Wednesday Chris and I visited Tech City Stars new Reboot Camp. It was another Dragon’s Den day. Chris was a Dragon again, I came along to film and take pictures on the day. It was nice to see everyone back at Tech City, they all welcomed me very nicely. I arrived quite late so I did not get the chance to meet everyone in camp, but just before Dragon’s Den started I gave them all a few words of encouragement.

Learning from my mistakes!

So my new video is out “Walk down memory lane!” this time, I took Chris’ advice in writing my script before starting to edit my video, it worked out for me because after I spent my time recording I knew exactly what to write. I thought of what to write whilst I was recording. I was building the story as I was going along.

This week I decided to film the area I grew up in. It was nice to walk around town and record, the only thing that was a let down was the weather. Going round to the park and visiting Fulham football club just brings back so many memories from my childhood . I will not go on for too long as I would like you guys too see the video.
