Using Pinterest for Digital Marketing
Many companies already understand just how important it is to work with social media for their digital marketing. However, a number of businesses tend to stick with the “go to” platforms of Facebook and Twitter. While they are certainly the two biggest and most powerful options, it is important to remember that they are not the only options. You can also branch out and work on some of the other platforms, such as Pinterest. It can actually work quite well for marking content, products, and more.
What Is Pinterest?
Pinterest is a social network that allows people to share photos of things they find interesting on the Internet. They “pin” photos to their wall for others to see and to share. They can also look at the walls of other users on Pinterest. It’s a very popular site that continues to grow daily. People love looking at photos, and that’s one of the big draws of sites such as this and Instagram. While you can pin photos from other places on the web, the real benefit is that you can pin your own photos. This is what most companies are doing.
When you put up photos, you are able to add keywords to them. Think of the keywords that you already use on your blog and in other social media sites. This helps people to find photos they are looking for. If they like what they see, they may follow the breadcrumb trail back to your website. If you post and pin some high quality photos, you will start to develop a following on the site. It does not mean that all of the viewers will become customers, but many will re-pin your photos, which can expand the branding of your company.
Do You Have the Right Type of Business?
Is Pinterest a good option for all types of businesses? While it might not seem to be a good option for some companies because of the types of products or services they offer, you should not count it out quite yet. Think outside of the box. The photos do not have to be of products or services. They could be of fun events at the company, pictures from the area, and more. You can think of some interesting ways that you could integrate Pinterest into your digital marketing plan. Just make sure you are thinking visually.
Of course, you may find that becoming part of Pinterest will simply not work for you for whatever reason. Even though it is a good platform to integrate, don’t feel as though it is as essential as Twitter and Facebook. When you are on the network though, you will start to drive traffic to your site and boost awareness of your brand. It’s not as easy to understand and use as something such as Facebook, but you will get the hang of it soon enough. It’s a good way to find potential customers who aren’t on the other social networks too. Expanding your reach and your brand is always a good thing!
