First Day At Work!

First day was interesting, it started off a bit nervy at first but Chris made me feel more comfortable with joining the team, we had a coffee to start off the day and we spoke further into what I will be doing, that made me feel like this is all about learning, hard work will need to be put in but its all about learning and building a relationship so that I can feel free telling Chris I’m not understanding what is being asked of me and also being able to throw my points in with what I believe can work, to what I believe won’t work.

We then got into work, Chris gave me my work laptop then got me to set up the email (creating folders, calendar syncing etc.) I found it really interesting as this is my first experience in being organised and making things easier for me to get around.

I was then introduced to Hoot Suite, I find Hoot Suite really interesting for the fact that you can have all your social media’s under one browser and you can add the best stream relevant to you i.e. (Your mentions on twitter, your post and your direct messages, without having to see the home page.) Another thing Chris showed me which I loved was that you can also schedule post for the week for each of your social media’s. I think that this is a good way of keeping on top of it without having to check every minute or taking a few minutes of your time thinking of what to write, Chris had me write up a few post for Twitter, at first I was Lost thinking I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE!!! but then I looked at the older tweets from Social Ink and basically added another twist to it, once I got the swing of it I didn’t want to stop, during lunch I grabbed something to eat and once I was finished I was back to trying to find more options of what to tweet.

In the afternoon, we met up with a new client to Social Ink. The plan was to help them with Digital Marketing, find out what has worked for them in the past, what is still working for them and come up with potential options to improve their numbers and engaging with their target audience. Before the meeting I had doubts that I wouldn’t come up with anything that would be beneficial but in the meeting I actually came up with a few ideas that the client liked and that Chris seemed impressed with. In the past I struggled with taking notes, I always never knew what was good enough to be put down but I got quite a few down, stuff that maybe only I would understand, but I was happy I made progress.

Chris had written down notes for himself on a white board, at the end of the meeting I had a look at what he wrote to try compare to see how well I did, some things didn’t make sense to me but I am sure we get a sit down and have a recap.

The first day was a definite success and I honestly can not wait to see what the 13 months has to offer, I know there is a lot I need to learn but I feel confident working at it… Lets see if I’ll be saying this 6 month down the line!

Thank you guys for taking the time to read another blog of mine, hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Take care.
